- Pay to apply or “guaranteed GSoC / Outreachy / SoB selection”
- Crypto wallet connect or “registration fee” in USDT/BTC to receive a stipend
- Telegram/WhatsApp-only “coordinators” not listed on the official program site
- Fake domains (
gsoc-apply.com, etc.) — use bookmarks from this repo’s program tables - Hackathons with no Devfolio / Devpost / MLH / Unstop /
.edu/ gov link - Forms asking for Aadhaar, OTP, bank PIN, or upfront “prize tax”
