Summer of Bitcoin

What it is: A global, remote, mentored summer program for university students to work on real Bitcoin open-source projects.

Tracks:

• Developer — protocol-adjacent tooling, infrastructure, applications
• Designer — UX, product design, interfaces for Bitcoin software

Who can apply: University students, 18+. Selection emphasizes proof of work (OSS contributions, shipped tools, workshops).

Duration: ~12 weeks (two cohorts per year in some cycles — check official announcements).

Stipend: Paid in Bitcoin (BTC) by default; PPP-based by location (often cited around ~$3,000–$6,600 USD equivalent — use the official stipend table). Paid in installments after evaluations.
