Outreachy

What it is: Paid, remote 3-month internships with free/open-source communities. Projects span engineering, UX, documentation, data science, community, and more.

Who can apply: People underrepresented in tech (see Outreachy’s eligibility page for the current definition and rules).

Stipend: $7,000 USD total for the internship (check official terms each round).

Rounds: Typically May–August and December–March cohorts.

Process (high level):

1. Initial application — often due ~2 weeks after applications open
2. Contribute to projects during the contribution period
3. Final application with specific project(s)

Important: The project list may be finalized after the initial deadline — Outreachy asks you to apply even if you do not yet see a perfect project.
