LFX Mentorship (Linux Foundation)

What it is: Mentored projects across the Linux Foundation ecosystem (CNCF, kernel-related projects, and more). Shorter cycles than a full summer in some terms; paid mentorship stipends for accepted mentees.

Who can apply: Varies by project — read each mentorship’s requirements.

Stipend: Often ~$3,000–$6,600 depending on region and project (check each mentorship).

Typical timeline: Multiple terms per year; application windows often July–August (verify on site).

Official: mentorship.lfx.linuxfoundation.org

Tip: Great follow-on after you have a few OSS contributions; many projects align with cloud-native, security, and infrastructure stacks.
